Warsaw is the capital and largest city of Poland. Warsaw is the 9th most-populous city in the European Union. Warsaw is an alpha global city, a major international tourist destination and a significant cultural, political and economic hub. It is one of the wealthiest capital cities in Central and Eastern Europe. Its historical Old Town of Warsaw was designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is a significant centre of research and development, Business process outsourcing, Information technology outsourcing, as well as of the Polish media industry. Warsaw is also one of the cities with the highest number of skyscrapers in the European Union. Warsaw's climate is humid continental with cold, snowy, cloudy winters and warm, sunny, stormy summers. Warsaw's mixture of architectural styles reflects the turbulent history of the city and country.
